My grandfather learned to fly before the start of World War II in Minnesota from his future brother-in-law. He later moved to San Diego, and after the war began teaching GI’s how to fly. In the 1950’s, he and his brother-in-law started Breise and Johnston Flying Service, which later became B & J Aviation and the San Diego Piper Dealer. After my father served in the Army, he worked as a mechanic for B & J Aviation and learned to fly from my grandfather. While in college, I was one of my grandfather’s last students and became a third generation pilot. In all, between my grandfather, my aunt, uncles and cousins, there are 9 pilots in my family’s history. I started flying RC as a teenager and flew off and on (mostly off) until my youngest son, Ryan became interested. We went to our first IMAC contest in 2014, and I flew my first contest in 2015. In 2017, I became the IMAC Southwest Regional Champion. Accomplishments 2017 IMAC Southwest Basic Champion |
